Channel Tunnel overview

The Channel Tunnel is truly an amazing feat of engineering, which is an undersea tunnel connecting the English town of Dover with Calais in France. The Eurostar train and road traffic operate on this road, and stretches a total of 23.85 miles in length. Though many would consider the Chunnel as just a road, travellers must remember that the initial ideas for a tunnel connecting France and England date back to the early 1800s, however political differences delayed the project for almost 200 years, with the tunnel open to the public in 1987. Although not really a tourist destination itself, the Channel Tunnel definitely one of the world’s greatest engineering marvels.
