Dijon Travel Guide
When many people hear the name Dijon, they think of spicy mustard, but In fact the mustard is named after the capital of the Burgundy region of France. Dijon has a rich heritage, which dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries, when the Dukes of Burgundy made the city their capital. Today, Dijon is a quiet and relaxing, cosmopolitan city that offers travellers a range of sites to visit including a number of art galleries, museums, architecturally stunning buildings and churches, and wine tasting. Burgundy is home to a wide variety of red wines, with the local favourite known as Cassis, which is dark purple in colour and sweet-black current in taste. If you are planning on taking part in enjoying the local drop, do the sensible thing and leave the rental car at the hotel.
