Mont Saint Michel overview

Situated on a small island, approximately four and a half hour’s drive from Paris is tourist trap known as Mont Saint Michel. Home to the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage listed site, Norman Benedictine Abbey of St Michel, travellers to Mont Saint Michel have the opportunity to stay in a medieval town with narrow and winding roads, surrounded by charming buildings with convoluted architecture. Travellers who don’t like crowds of tourists are strongly advised to avoid the peak season, as the crowds can be frustrating, and the constant stopping of travellers to take photos can be rather frustrating! Food on the island is considered to be over-priced and somewhat poor quality, and with those seeking to enjoy good quality French cuisine encouraged to take a drive to the nearby towns. There are a few small hotels scattered throughout the island, but for those who seek peace and quiet are best advised to stay in nearby Saint Malo.
